Can Communicate is a creative agency providing specialised communication support to social initiatives. What differentiates us from others is our sensitive approach that is needed for producing development communication. While doing this, it is important to bear in mind the budgets and the specific needs of the target audience of such initiatives.

Service providers who are working with for-profit organisations are very commercial-minded and pay scant attention to the specific communication needs of social development initiatives. They tend to treat NGOs and those working on social issues as any other ‘client’. The emotional connect is often lost in trying to make communication very witty. Few of them understand the passion with which such people work on social issues, and that lack of understanding is reflected in the services they provide. This is only natural, considering they came from a commercial background and are hardly sensitised to social issues.

Merely cleverly crafted communication campaigns are not enough. CanCommunicate’s emphasis is on understanding the passion and commitment of people working on such issues and building an emotional connect with our clients, which is reflected in our work.

CanCom was started by Preeti Gopalkrishnan, a journalist with over five years of experience in the development sector. She has been responsible for all the communication needs of the Laadli campaign, a comprehensive communications campaign to save the girl child, launched in 2005 by the Mumbai-based NGO, Population First. She has also written for and worked with premier English publications like The Times of India, India Today and The Asian Age, apart from freelance copywriting for various clients.

Preeti is backed by a team comprising highly experienced professionals including a filmmaker, script writer, photographer and graphic designer and copywriters.  Each team member is passionate towards social causes and has relevant experience, thus adding tremendous value to our services.
